The great unknown can sometimes be the most fear inducing thing in your life, whether it’s going to a new school, beginning the path to college, or learning how to ride a bike. We have all, at one point in our lives, come into a new situation and not known how to properly adapt to it and that is what makes the great unknown so scary – the fear of not knowing how to adapt to a new situation.

It’s like when you first learned to ride a bike and you have only ever ridden with training wheels or with someone pushing you. The moment you start to ride on your own without someone pushing you, it freaks you out, but then the next time you get on your bike without training wheels you’re no longer scared of falling.

Going to a new school is scary because you don’t know what the other kids are going to think of you or what they’re going to say about you. Like do they think your cool? Do they think your a loser? Then you find a couple of good friends who support you and everything ends up fine in the end.

Starting your first year of school can be a very scary experience and it takes some getting used to but by the second year at a new school it’s not scary anymore.

Deciding what you want to do with your life is probably one of the most anxious times in your life. But in order to begin college, you have to at least have an idea of what you want to do for a living.

Fear can accompany any part of your life when you have to enter into a new situation. Starting out in any new situation can be scary but it’s an important part of life. Sometimes it might feel like the end of the world when it is only a new beginning.

In the words of Albus Dumbledore, “it’s the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness.”
