“The Alliance for Development and Population Services is a community-based organisation working to support education in Vihiga County, Kenya, among other activities by working to address issues and obstacles that hinder proper access to education in the area. Special focus is placed on orphans and vulnerable children in the area through child sponsorship, counselling, feeding, formal education support and other support activities. We also run a day care centre, Noah’s Ark Academy, that we provide most of our services through. To date, the centre has about 200 orphans and vulnerable children. In this endeavour, we encounter numerous challenges, ranging from lack of space to accommodate the growing number of troubled children and youngsters, structured learning materials, teachers and other requirements needed for proper and effective program implementation.”
