Q. Where is the NUHA Foundation based? Does it have a postal address?
NUHA is, from a legal point of view, based in England. Because it is a virtual organization, i.e. it has no offices, it has a registered address but no operations address, and it relies instead on the private postal addresses of its team members. This is a strength as it means that we have no office expenditure and our wide network of volunteers and helping hands means that we can receive post in many parts of the globe. Q. Is the NUHA Foundation a legitimate charitable organisation?
Yes: NUHA is a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), registered with the Charity Commission of England & Wales under no. 1160523. Click here to see our registration certificate.
(Prior to registration with the Charity Commission, in February 2015, we were operating as a charitable organization registered with Her Majesty's Revenue & Customs (HMRC), which is the British tax authority. Our reference number is XT21444.)
Q. Does the NUHA Foundation have a governing document?
NUHA is governed by a Constitution based on the model constitution for charitable incorporated organisations (CIOs) proposed by the Charity Commission. A copy may be made available upon written request.
Q. What is a charity trustee? Who are the charity trustees of the NUHA Foundation?
Charity trustees are the people who take ultimate responsibility for directing the affairs of a charity, and ensuring that it is solvent, well-run, and delivering the charitable outcomes for the benefit of the public for which it has been set up. The Foundation has three charity trustees: Ambroise Desplechin, Raya Tueny and Hafez Virjee.
