Hate can be cultural, to be sure, as a tradition that is handed down from generation to generation without any justification, or even analytics. We hate because we can hate. It seems that some people, in order to feel good about themselves, must articulate their presumed superiority over others in terms of extreme hostility towards the targeted person/people. The victims of the targeted hate then react with reciprocal hate. After a period of time during the notorious, century-old feud between the Hatfield and McCoy families, nobody even knew the catalyst for the conflict, only that all had a duty to kill off the other clan. Today, there is a truce of sorts, but there remains the possibility of a resumption of the deadly conflict.
In the political climate of the USA, there is a big chasm between the polar opposites in the political realm, between the Neanderthals, and the Enlightened. Even the credentialed never abandon their loyalty to a posture, even though it is completely illogical and without foundation. That is how the U.S. Civil War was ignited. That is how the indigenous people of this land were mostly exterminated. The settlers, under the ludicrous Doctrine of Manifest Destiny, believed that God preordained that they massacre these people who had lived on this soil for more than 30,000 years before the invasion.
History is replete with carnage, genocide, and the utter savagery, barbarism, and destruction of civilization that hate wreaks, especially on the masses who constitute the base of the social pyramid. Of the approximate 7.5 billion world population, 97% of us are stuck at the base of the pyramid, without any path to upward social mobility, despite getting propagandized by what passes for education. The quest for credentials is great, while the quest for the truly brutal nature of history is buried in the heap of conquest, genocide, and exploitation.
Perhaps, if more emphasis were placed on veracity the masses could appreciate the possibility of peace, tolerance, and global sanity, which is not to say that there will no mental illness. However, we can minimize the collective madness taking us into the abyss. Most people have the herd mentality, and are often referred to as ‘sheeple’. It is irrelevant, that they have credentials, because logic is never mastered by the masses. They will follow the Judas goat right over the cliff, and fall to their rocky deaths as long as the cow bell around the neck of the Judas goat can be heard. You see the sheep bury their faces into the rear end of the sheep in front of them. They never look up to get their bearings. By the time they disengage, from the rear end of the sheep in front of them, they are in the free fall to a deadly end.
RACIAL HATRED
Mitochondrial DNA indicates that all living humans descend from one maternal source— christened Mitochondrial Eve—who lived in Africa between 100,000 and 200,000 years ago. Similarly, the Y chromosome shows that all men have a common ancestor, Y-chromosome Adam, who lived at the same time. (Actually, both analyses indicate that modern humans descend from a small founding population of about 5000 men and an equal number of women.) The time estimates are based on assumptions about how frequently genetic mutations occur. The mutation clocks of mitochondrial DNA and the Y chromosome tick at different speeds, so the fact that they both indicate humans emerged at the same historical moment makes this evidence much more convincing. If this is true, then why is there such a profound disdain for dark-skinned people? At some point, all of humanity was dark-skinned. Even among intra-racial ethnicities, the hate runs deep.
INTRA-RACIAL HATE
Winston Churchill wrote that the Franco/Teuton conflict, between Germany and France, was responsible for warfare for a millennium. When the race is the same, people fight among the various tribes of that racial stock. The same can be said of the various African tribes, Oriental Asian tribes, Indus tribes, the indigenous tribes, of the New World, Pacific Island tribes, etc.
A CORRELATION BETWEEN RACISM AND PSYCHOLOGICAL HEALTH
In other words, racism — and xenophobia of any kind — is a symptom of psychological ill-health. It is a sign of a lack of psychological integration, a lack of self-esteem and inner security. Psychologically healthy people with a stable sense of self and strong inner security are not racist, because they have no need to strengthen their sense of self through group identity. They have no need to define themselves in distinction to — and in conflict with — others. Xenophobia is not the only possible response to insecurity or a sense of lacking, of course: taking drugs, drinking heavily, and becoming obsessively materialistic or ambitious may be other responses. Psychologically healthy people don’t need to resort to racism in the same way that they don’t need to resort to taking drugs.
It is also helpful to remember that there is no biological basis for dividing the human race into distinct “races.” There are just groups of human beings — all of whom came from Africa originally — who developed slightly different physical characteristics over time as they travelled and adapted to different climates and environments. The differences between us are very fuzzy and very superficial. Fundamentally, there are no races — just one human race.
HATE STUDIES
There are Hate Studies programs at some universities such as Gonzaga University, Spokane, WA, and City University of New York, NY. We need to expand academic programs, as an outgrowth of psychology programs, legal studies, history studies, sociology studies, archeology, etc. Perhaps we can improve the human condition, even if not to the point of loving all people in the world; maybe tolerance is the best we can hope for right now. Perhaps in the future we can do better but, for now, I would be satisfied with mere tolerance.
One would think that, after all of this time, tolerance would have been achieved ages ago; but keep hope alive! The world is a work in progress. I think most people are tolerant, at a bare minimum, but only the intolerant make the news when they lash out. Bad news sells newspapers. One would think that good news is boring. Can we have more boring, please?!
HATE AND TORTURE
There is a correlation between hate and torture. When we demonize our perceived enemies, it tends to justify torture. Torture has a long and storied past in the progression of the human condition (if you can perceive it as a progression). However, perhaps more accurately, this is regression as opposed to progression. Analogous to evolution, contrasted to devolution. It is dynamic, as the pendulum swings along its arc.
CORRELATION BETWEEN HATE AND THE UNIVERSAL CYCLE OR UNIVERSAL FREQUENCY
Hate is negative energy, over which you have absolute control. It is because of this and the way that the Law of Attraction works, matching our ‘frequency’ to give us more of the same, that it is important we work to raise our frequencies. When we fill ourselves with negative energies and emotions such as fear, anger, sadness or general pessimism, our frequency is lowered and the universe can only expand on this, promoting greater negativity in our lives. However, when we strive to raise our frequency with thoughts and actions of positivity and love, the more joyful and loving life becomes.
The problem isn’t trying to raise your frequency. After all, when we are being true to ourselves, our frequency and energies are always striving to be at their highest and most positive. However, it is when we let the stresses and worries of daily life affect us that our emotional frequency is dragged down.
You are at your purest, highest frequency when you simply let things be and begin to listen to your true self. To do this, all you have to do is step out of your own way: let go of resistance, stop giving attention to everything that may be wrong in your life and instead, turn your focus to everything that is going right in your life.
BREAK THE CHAIN OF HATE
Humanity is obviously the product of our genetics, and also our cultural influences. Nothing can be done about the DNA, as we do not get to choose our parentage. It is what it is. We cannot control the habituation or brain washing foisted upon us by our parents, our habitat, or human influences that we encounter as we physically mature into adulthood.
Nevertheless, at some juncture one has the option of evaluating the dogma we have been taught and, hopefully, we can ascertain the real from the imagined, the factual from the fantasy, and draw our own conclusions as to validity, which is to be distinguished from mythology. Ergo, theoretically, we can differentiate between legitimate suspicion, and generic hate for reasons which are unfounded. Certainly, there are profoundly evil people we all encounter in this life, but there is no justification for universal hate of all unlike us. Right?
